How it works? (4 steps)

You can designate a person (the proxy) who will vote on your behalf, at your polling station.
Since 2022, your proxy can be registered in another municipality. The proxy votes at your polling station, not their own.

1) Before you start (information to request from your proxy)

Their National Voter Number (NNE) (ideal) + their date of birth. (The NNE can be found on the voter card or via online verification.)
Alternatively: their full name(s), date/place of birth + their voting municipality

2) Apply online

Fill out the proxy form on: https://www.maprocuration.gouv.fr/
➡️ You indicate your proxy and choose whether the proxy is valid for 1 round or 2 rounds.

3) Verify your identity

To validate the proxy, you must confirm your identity:

Police station / Gendarmerie (in France)
Consulate (if you are abroad)

(Depending on your situation, the proxy can be 100% online via France Identité.)

4) Confirmation

You will be informed as soon as the proxy is processed.

✅ Offline option: directly on-site (paper form)

You can also complete your proxy form directly at a police station or gendarmerie (and at a consulate if you are abroad), with:

your ID
the proxy’s information (ideally their NNE)

Please note (very important)

Your proxy will vote at YOUR polling station (not their own).
The proxy can be registered in another municipality.
No proof required (no need to prove why you are absent).
Complete the process as soon as possible (processing times apply).
A proxy can only hold 1 proxy form established in France on election day.

Special cases (to cover all situations)

🏥 Hospitalization / disability / inability to travel
You can request an agent to come to you to collect your proxy form (request + sworn statement).
➡️ Contact a police station / gendarmerie.

✈️ You are abroad (studies, work, travel)
Apply online, then have your identity validated at the consulate.

🔁 1 round or 2 rounds?

You can issue a proxy for:

for the 1st round / for the 2nd round / or for both rounds.
