Conditions for voting

  • Be French, or a citizen of the European Union
  • Be 18 years old by the day before the election at the latest
  • Be registered on the electoral rolls of Lourmarin (with a connection to the commune: domicile, accommodation, taxes, professional activity…)
  • Not having been deprived of one’s civil and political rights

Case 1️⃣ — You live in Lourmarin

For whom? Lourmarin is your domicile, or you have actually lived there for at least 6 continuous months.
To provide:

  • ID document
  • Proof of address < 3 months (invoice, home insurance, rent receipt, etc.)
    Tip: if you are in the “6 months” category, if possible, add a 2nd document showing continuity (another dated letter to the address).

👤 Special case: Young people 18–25 years old (under 26 years old)

  • At 18 years old, registration can be automatic if you completed the citizen census from age 16. Check here: https://www.service-public.gouv.fr/particuliers/vosdroits/R51788
  • If you are not registered (or if you have moved), you can apply for registration in Lourmarin if one of your parents has their actual domicile there or has lived there for 6 months, even if you live elsewhere (e.g., studies, work-study program).
  • To provide: ID document + proof of relationship (family record book / birth certificate) + parent’s proof of address in Lourmarin (< 3 months).

“Anti-confusion”

  • Secondary residence ≠ “I live in Lourmarin”: if you mainly come for holidays / weekends, it’s case 3️⃣ (local taxes).
  • If you live here daily (or for 6 continuous months), it’s case 1.

Case 2️⃣ — You are hosted by a relative

For whom? You live with someone (family / friend), without a lease in your name.
To provide:

  • Your ID document
  • Dated and signed certificate of accommodation: https://www.service-public.gouv.fr/simulateur/calcul/AttestationHebergement
  • ✅ Copy of the host’s ID document
  • ✅ Host’s proof of address < 3 months
  • Document proving your connection to the commune: a document in your name showing the address of the accommodation where you are hosted.

    Examples: Ameli rights certificate, phone bill, CAF certificate, France Travail / pension fund letter, bank certificate (domiciliation), insurance certificate, employer certificate.

Case 3️⃣ — Secondary residence / Local taxes (taxpayer for 2 years)

For whom? You have a secondary residence in Lourmarin or you have been paying local taxes in Lourmarin for at least 2 years.
To provide:

  • ID document
  • 2 local tax notices in Lourmarin (2 years), for example:
    👉 This can be the same tax over two years or two different taxes (due successively), for example: property tax one year and CFE the following year.
    • Property tax (built / unbuilt)
    • Housing tax (if applicable)
    • CFE
  • ✅ Or DDFiP certificate/attestation mentioning your name
    Tip: for a secondary residence, 2 years of property tax is often sufficient (if you have it handy).

Case 4️⃣ — Professional activity in Lourmarin (pro)

For whom? You are a manager or partner of a company linked to Lourmarin, and the company is taxed locally.

Case 5️⃣ — EU Citizen 🇪🇺

For whom? You are an EU citizen and you live / have a connection to Lourmarin.
To provide:

  • ✅ Your country’s ID document
  • Proof of connection to Lourmarin (case 1 / 2 / 3 / 4)

  • ❌ Who cannot vote?
    Since Brexit, British citizens can no longer vote in municipal elections in France. Non-EU nationals (e.g., Americans, Moroccans, Swiss…) are not eligible to vote, unless they have acquired French nationality.
